Our Chicken Farm is Growing!
Things have evolved since my last post on Isaac’s fundraiser,
I wasn’t getting a lot of donations, am still contributing my own money, but myself living on provincial assistance is not a lot to go around.
My friend Isaac talks to me every day and is very encouraging as he applies his donations. He has made a great friend with another local man who owns a poultry farm, over an hour walk away, and Isaac works at this man’s farm daily, not for money but for food, help, and training on how to care for these birds.
In October 2025 this other farmer built Isaac’s family a poultry house, and then with money I donated, he bought food, medicine and supplies for his chicks.
Isaac sends me videos of his chickens almost daily, they have gotten huge already, and should be mature enough in March to begin laying eggs. His needs have outgrown the existing chicken house, he needs more room for them to lay eggs. Materials are needed for a second poultry house.
The cold rainy season is also upon them. Last month we bought a solar panel and heat lamp, which is not near enough.
Really boot-strapping. Luckily he has a good reputation with store owners in his community and he sometimes gets short term loans of supplies, but as he is waiting for his chickens to start laying eggs, he has not made money yet.
