Answered Prayer With a Sense of Humor

Written by:

Prior to this story I’d had some experience with hearing voices and deliverance from demons, but nothing so tangible as this.

This is about my first time witnessing and acknowledging God’s amazing sense of humour. Believe me, we’ve been in touch since and we laugh all the time! 😂🥲

It was 2007, I lived alone and had a $43 phone bill that had to be paid by the next day or I’d lose my home phone and internet services. No cell phone either. I had $3 to my name, and no way to raise the money.

It occurred to me that a local bar had a weekly karaoke contest where each time you sang you got a ticket, and if your number was called you get to spin-to-win up to $50.

My $3 would be enough for a $2 Pepsi. So I decided to pray, and give karaoke a try 🎤 🎶

There were a lot of singers that night, too.

There turned out to be someone I kind of knew there, an acquaintance, funny her name was Elaine too. She’d been there since the beginning of the evening when they weren’t as busy, and already had a stack of tickets from singing her heart out. I showed up later so I earned fewer tickets.

I bought the $2 Pepsi, and had $1 left so I bought a game of pool at the coin table.

A funny old man, drunk, but nice, saw me playing pool, and challenged me. He paid for several games between my songs.

It so happened that the other Elaine decided to leave early, and she handed me her stack of tickets. They’d be calling the number soon.

A stack of 18 tickets was in my hand. I put them in order, closed my eyes and prayed, “Please God let them call my number!”

The host called the number… And omg the number she called was my first ticket, facing me, right on top!

That alone blew my mind! Lol.

So I went to spin the wheel. If it landed on King, I would win $50.

I spun the wheel. Clickety-clickity round it went. Almost, almost, one more click, wow it looked like it was landing on king!! Almost… click. Ace. $1. I won!! A whole dollar!! 🤦‍♀️

Shaking my head and laughing at the nerve of God, I used my ENTIRE WINNINGS for another game of pool. I was ready to cry but still recognized the comedy in the irony. I told the old man what happened.

After our game, before leaving, he did something unexpected…. He dumped the entire contents of his pockets of change on the pool table and told me to take it all. I was dumbfounded.

I collected it, went home and counted it.

The old man had literally given me, exactly $43 in change!

It was what I had prayed for, enough to pay my phone bill!

The next day I paid off my $43 phone and internet invoice in dimes, quarters, and dollar coins, and then a good belly laugh. I said “Thank you” to a God who showed me He heard and answered my prayer, silently, but with tongue-in-cheek. 😂

May God answer your prayers too! 💛

Grace, Love and Light,

Enlillie.

God sees. He listens.

He laughs! He loves. 🥰

More info:

In the small Jewish community of Nabugoye, Mbale, Uganda has a small farm with his Grandma. Currently they have maize growing but it’s not enough to support his large familywith more than just food for the family. He’s picked up and cares for 20 orphaned children in his city, to get them off the street.

There are many more street children, their whole community pulls together.

He wants to take good care of them, paying for their schooling, hospital care and medicine when needed, clothing, supplies, food, and land costs. They DO have clean drinking water, but no electricity in their home but for a small solar charger, which he’s not sure it will work in monsoon season!

His long-term goals go beyond school, home, or even his own community, but to help other related communities as well.
